Eagle Eye Produce looks for good season

With new additions to its supply portfolio, Eagle Eye Produce is poised for a great season, Joe Ange says.

“We have made some great improvements in our portfolio, and we’re excited about the addition of Central Produce Distribution,” said Ange, director of business development for the Idaho Falls, Idaho-based company.

In April, Eagle Eye Produce and Central Produce Distribution announced that, starting with the 2021-22 onion season, Eagle Eye Produce will handle all sales and marketing for Central Produce, Payette, Idaho.

Throughout the year the company also added strategic partnerships in Washington, California, New Mexico, Idaho and Oregon. 

“We’re really excited about where our program is headed,” he said. 

Truck availability in the region was seeing a bit of improvement in carrier capacity or availability in early August, Ange said.

“One thing that we anticipate relying on this year is rail again, and we’ve got rail facilities in both our onion and potato operations,” he said.

The company supplies yellow, red and white onions from Idaho and eastern Oregon. Harvest is expected to continue into October, and shipments from storage can run as late as mid-May.

“With varieties and improvements in cold storage, we actually will go through April and far into May,” he said.
