Kids’ Food Basket aims to feed children living at or near the poverty level with critical evening meals to make sure kids are performing at their highest academic ability.

The organization focuses on providing healthy meals and access to fresh, locally grown food. Allowing children and families greater resources that can help build a vibrant and healthy West Michigan.

Kids’ Food Basket currently serves approximately 8,800 children at 52 locations across four counties and continues its growth to meet the needs of children and families around the community. Making use of facilities that are locally funded and operated, the team helps maximize impact where they serve.

Meals are prepared by over 250 daily volunteers. By encouraging positive, long-term changes through healthy food access, Kids’ Food Basket dignifies a response to hunger which empowers community-wide action.

Over the past three years, FWF has partnered with Kids’ Food Basket to support and stand behind their initiative in nourishing children with meals. The FWF team participated this year by raising money through our Wheelin’ Wednesday’s campaign, where employees could dress casually for a donation to the organization. The team was eager to participate each week raising money to make an impact.

Wrapping up our partnership for 2021, FWF raised $4,156 in donations for Kids’ Food Basket.

“FWF is an exemplary company when it comes to community involvement and corporate responsibility. A community organization I work for, Kids’ Food Basket, has had the opportunity to partner alongside FWF several times in various ways. Each time, they’ve shown up as a committed partner, bring creativity, and work to engage as many of their team members as possible. It’s clear they take their corporate responsibility to give back to the community seriously,” says Ben Nyhoff, Associate Director of Development at Kids Food Basket.

At FWF, we believe in partnering with outreach programs that embody our values. Kids’ Food Basket empowers communities by tackling childhood hunger so children can reach their full potential. The organization is building a strong West Michigan by providing nutrition to boost healthy development and breaking the cycle of poverty. FWF is honored to be able to work with Kids’ Food Basket, an impactful organization that brings change and inclusion to our community.
