Growers lean on third party certifiers for sustainability progress checks
The Packer’s Sustainable Insights Survey asked the question, “How do you document the sustainability steps you take on your farm?” and growers polled rated third party-certifiers at the top of the list.

“Other” documentation methods cited were:
- Manual;
- Common sense; and
- Written down.
Growers indicated there may be a dearth of education opportunities about sustainability topics.
Asked, “Do you partake in any continuing education courses for sustainability measures?” the results were:

- Read and learn on our own;
- Workshops offered by research-based universities and grower organizations;
- Be well informed;
- Field days and self-study; and
- Regular web seminars.
