Consalo Family Farms is proud to celebrate the 35th work anniversary of a star employee, Sidney Johnson. Sidney began working at Consalo in April of 1986 as a forklift operator. As the company expanded and opened The Fresh Wave, a full service sales division, Sidney was promoted and started at The Fresh Wave headquarters as a supervisor in 2007.

This year, the company opened a new warehouse space that holds over 1,000 pallets per day. Sidney now manages this space and its employees. As Warehouse Manager, primarily supervising the fruit category, he oversees produce inspection, forklift operators, cooling, inbound and outbound freight, repack operations, bagging operations, packing operations and inventory.

Executive Vice President Chelsea Consalo says, “Sidney’s industry knowledge is unmatched. He can tell you pallet counts, product specs, temperature requirements, and more off the cuff. Sidney has extensive, impressive experience in quality control, inventory management and storage control for blueberries which we consider to be our top item. When I came into the business out of college, he was one of my mentors. Not only is he a wealth of knowledge, but Sidney is also totally dedicated to his job. Sidney has always treated our business like his own. He will be the first one at work and the last one to leave. He always answers his phone, he doesn’t leave until the job is done, and he has shown true passion and commitment. He is just like family to us.”

Last year was a challenge for everyone dealing with the pandemic. Seasonally, Consalo Family Farms employs up to 650 people. The entire staff worked together to adapt to a new normal while working tirelessly to ship produce out daily.

As the company continues to grow and expand, the family work culture has helped the business become more successful. “A lot of us are family, but those of us who are not feel like we are,” says Chelsea. “We love what we do, and it allows for an awesome atmosphere. We feel proud to have someone like Sidney Johnson stand with Consalo Family Farms for 35 years. Nothing else says more about our company and the kind of values we represent!”

Congratulations to Sidney Johnson for a successful 35-year career so far! The Consalo family looks forward to many more years to come!
