The Jones Family is ringing in 2022 celebrating a 60-year anniversary for Bobalu Berries.   The family is very proud to honor Bob and Lupe Jones who established the berry farming company back in 1962 and naming the company Bobalu by blending their two names, which still stands today.

Bobby and RC Jones, brothers and managing partners, have been reflecting on the importance of the milestone as they look forward to celebrating the 60 years accomplished and what is next for the company.  “We want to commemorate this anniversary by giving back to our community that has supported our family business for so many years” says Bobby.  “We both agreed we want to establish an ongoing scholarship program for graduating high school seniors in Ventura County”, adds RC.   The company is working with the Oxnard High School Union District to launch scholarships for each of the seven main high schools throughout Ventura County.

The first annual Bobalu Berry Farms Scholarship Program will be launched in time for 2022 graduating high school seniors to apply.  Each of the high schools is working with Bobalu to share details and the application with potential recipients for the scholarship program.  Bobalu is focused on rewarding students that are the first in their family to attend college with strong academics and need extra financial support as they take that next big step in continuing their education.

As the company moves into 2022, Bobby and RC Jones are energized about how much has been accomplished even since they took the helm in 2017.  They have expanded the company from a trusted long time farming operation to a vertically integrated strawberry grower, shipper, processing company poised for continued growth.

There will be many more celebrations and milestones shared with buyers as the Bobalu Berry Farms plans for the 2022 fresh strawberry season and the next 60 years.

When asked about the biggest difference from 60 years ago to 2022, the response from both was the complete shift from being a regional supplier to a national brand providing year-round strawberries.  “What we are most proud of is our long-standing commitment established by our grandparents, Bob and Lupe, to keep family first in our company culture.  We maintain our slogan “Family Grown, Farmer Owned” and everything that stands behind it.  We have accomplished this with controlled growth and being very strategic about how we expand our company” says Bobby.
