MAS Melons & Grapes expects peak volume in February
The last two seasons have been good ones for melon markets, and honeydew, cantaloupe and specialty melons were in good demand last year. This winter, sales are off to a good start, too, said Mikee Suarez, salesman at Rio Rico, Ariz.-based MAS Melons & Grapes.
The company specializes in fruits and vegetables from Mexico, selling melons, table grapes and squash, according to Suarez. MAS ships out of Colima, Jalisco and Nayarit, Mexico, and markets under the Desert Pride label.
“Shipping has begun already, but peak volume will start in February,” Suarez said. “The majority of our volume will be in February and March. This year, we expect a similar volume as last year.”
