Reid joins the OPMA after a long career in progressively senior association executive roles. Previously, he was director of marketing, public affairs and member services at the Ontario Medical Association; the executive director at the Pharmacist’s Association of Newfoundland and Labrador; and, most recently, the executive director at the Police Association of Ontario.

He has led or worked within teams on several pieces of legislation and regulations, such as the Police Services Act, presumptive coverage for first responders and expanded scopes of practice for pharmacists.

As senior director for merchant marketing at Mastercard Canada, Reid contributed to several key strategic partnerships with high-profile brands including WestJet, SportsChek, Fairmont Hotels, President’s Choice Financial and Canadian Tire, according to a press release.

Reid is currently working to complete a part-time Ph.D. in communications and government relations.

Former OPMA President Michelle Broom's resignation was effective Feb. 11. At the time Broom's departure was announced in December 2021, the organization issued the following statement:

"Over the last three years, Broom has been instrumental in supporting and executing the Board’s strategic direction and she has implemented many new initiatives to ensure our continued growth and success as an association. Michelle’s inspiring leadership has left a lasting impression on our organization, membership and community."

The Ontario Produce Marketing Association is a member-funded, nonprofit organization whose primary objective is to connect people and information from field to plate.
