Hollabaugh Bros. expands use of Hazel Tech products

Chicago-based Hazel Technologies, Inc. has announced a second-year collaboration with Biglerville, Pa.-based grower-shipper Hollabaugh Bros., Inc.

The family-owned grower/packer/shipper, located in the heart of Adams County, produces more than a dozen commodities, including apples, pears, stone fruit, and cherries, according to a news release.

“We were honestly blown away by the quality we saw after trying out Hazel 100 sachets," Wayne Hollabaugh, assistant wholesale manager at Hollabaugh Bros, Inc., said in the release. "We had heard about the great results they have seen with apples but were amazed by the increase in shelf-life we saw for our pears. Knowing that more fruit is getting to our retailers ripe and ready for the produce floor makes us excited to use Hazel products on our apples, pears and peaches this year.”

The grower/shipper trialed the Hazel flagship technology, Hazel 100, on their apples and pears during the 2021 season, according to the release.

“It’s really rewarding when our customers have such positive experiences with our Hazel 100 solution,” Joe Parker, account executive at Hazel Technologies, said in the release. "Our growers, packers, and shippers are given peace of mind their premium fruits and vegetables will arrive in pristine condition when they use our products. The team at Hollabaugh is a great example of this as they have gone from trialing Hazel 100 box sachets in 2021 to incorporating both box and bin sachets into three of their commodities in 2022.”
