Los Angeles-based Melissa’s World Variety Produce Inc. has added a number of new items, said Robert Schueller, director of public relations. They include:

  • Tender baby white potatoes that have been peeled, cooked and sealed to maintain freshness. Each package includes a packet of vinaigrette;
  • Fresh-cut, ready-to-eat mango cubes in a clear see-through clamshell container;
  • Sweet black mission figs and even sweeter golden figs. Both are available in 8-ounce clamshell containers;
  • Medjool dates, deglet noor dates, organic date almond roll and organic date coconut roll, all available in 1-pound clamshells; and
  • Jackfruit pods in 8-ounce containers that eliminate the time and messy process of extracting the pods from the whole fruit.

The company also has expanded warehousing and cooler space by 30% this year, Schueller said.
