Pure Palm date harvest underway
Bakersfield, Calif.-based Pure Palm Produce has begun harvesting its 2017 medjool date crop.
“This year’s harvest was about 10 days later than last year, but in line with the traditional start date, which is usually the last week in August or first week of September,” Ben Antongiovanni, president, said in a news release.
Medjool dates are picked and stored for year-round availability.
“Harvest came just in time as we finished up shipments of last year’s crop and had a seamless transition to new crop medjool dates with no holdover,” Antongiovanni said in the release.
Pure Palm also offers a value-added line which includes California pitted dates, chopped dates, golden zahidi dates, coconut date rolls and almond date rolls, according to the release.
