Boskovich Farms moves fall-winter organic vegetable deal to Mexico
Because of increased growing costs at its Oxnard, Calif., headquarters, Boskovich Farms Inc. now is producing its fall-winter organic vegetable crop in Baja California, Mexico, said Michael Boskovich, who handles organic sales for the company.
The program remains the same as past seasons and includes organic green onions, three varieties of kale, broccoli and celery, he said. The fall-winter deal began in November and early December and will continue in Mexico through April.
Boskovich Farms cuts back its summer program because consumers nationwide tend to support their local organic growers during that time, Boskovich said.
