Wenatchee, Wash.-based Stemilt Growers LLC launched a new sustainable package called the EZ Band last fall, and it recently launched an organic Cosmic Crisp version, said Brianna Shales, marketing director.

The recyclable paperboard-based package holds four large-size apples.

“It’s a grab-and-go pack that is easy to merchandise and shop, helps ensure that the organic ring happens at the register and better promotes product in e-commerce environments,” Shales said.

The package is still undergoing trials at retail, “but we are having good success,” she said.

Stemilt also is in its third year partnering with Apeel to deliver crisper apples with the Apeel organic plant-based coating.

“It’s a great tool for our organic apple program and is one part of how we strive to grow quality fruit that delights consumers,” she said.
