G&R Farms’ ‘Season of Giving’ boosts big year for charitable donations
G&R Farms capped a record-breaking year for charitable fundraising with its third annual “Season of Giving” promotional campaign.
The third-generation family farm in Glennville, Ga., partnered with three regional retail operators throughout the U.S. in November and December to raise $8,000 in donations for three charities and food banks during the campaign. G&R Farms works with participating retailers who choose a charity or food bank partner within their communities, and it donates a portion of proceeds from all Peruvian onions sales during the promotion period at that retailer, according to a news release.
“We are proud to have continued this program in 2022. Giving back is at the core of who we are at G&R Farms, and we’re grateful to have retail partners who feel the same,” CEO Blake Dasher said in the release. “Concern over food affordability is rampant in our country with Feeding America reporting 34 million people in the U.S. currently experiencing food insecurity, reaching 100% of U.S. counties. That is an incredible burden that we are honored to help alleviate in any way we can.”
G&R Farms said that it takes its responsibility as an industry leader seriously and makes giving back a priority. G&R Farms’ Season of Giving and spring/summer "Growing America’s Farmers" campaigns raised more than $120,000 during the 2022 fiscal year, according to the release. The funds support community food organizations, as well as provide grants and scholarships for future agriculture professionals.
“2022 was a record-breaking charitable year for us. We’ve already started planning for our 2023 charitable projects, and we’re looking to break records, again,” Dasher said in the release.
G&R Farms began with a small farm in 1945. Today, it has grown to over 5,000 acres encompassing several crops, with a focus on sweet onions. G&R Farms has been growing, packing, marketing and shipping sweet onions for nearly seven decades.
