Read to Me project hits record level
Demand for the Read to Me Project is surpassing capacity and hit a record level for this years “Salinas Valley Grows Readers” event.
Salinas, Calif.-based Taylor Farms is donating its venue for the Oct. 5 fundraiser, according to a news release, which raises money for kids in low-literacy schools.
Read to Me provides children aged six months to five years the opportunity to learn and gain a language and literacy foundation daily from older elementary students, according to the release.
The event will include food, drinks, music, entertainment and classroom sponsorship auctions.
“With (community) support, Read to Me Project is able to bring books and literacy into homes and help children achieve their full potential,” Barbara Greenway, project founder and executive director, said in the release.
Registration is available online at www.readtomeproject.org or by emailing mary@readtomeproject.org. The cost to attend is $35.
Anyone unable to attend can also donate to the cause on the project’s website, according to the release.
