John Toner V has been hired as vice president of the New York Produce Show and Conference, Produce Business has announced.

Toner most recently served as vice president of political affairs with the International Fresh Produce Association. Prior to that, Toner had been vice president of convention and industry collaboration for the United Fresh Produce Association. He began with the association in 1999.

“I am excited to turn my attention to the New York Produce Show and build the conference and trade show into even more of a first-class event that will be a beacon for the industry to connect with,” Toner said in a news release. “I am also extremely committed to making this conference the ‘must attend’ event of the year for the next generation within the fresh produce industry. We must always be building with the future in mind.”

The New York Produce Show launched in 2010 and is organized by Produce Business in collaboration with the Eastern Produce Council, the release said.

In a statement, Ken Whitacre, publisher and editorial director of Produce Business, praised Toner’s skills in event management, marketing strategy, produce industry knowledge, customer service and new business development.

The 2023 New York Produce Show & Conference is set for Dec. 5-7. For more information, see the event website at www.nyproduceshow.com.
