USDA announces big fresh vegetable purchases

The USDA has announced a purchase of vegetable products for distribution to the National School Lunch Program and other Federal Food and Nutrition Assistance Programs for fiscal year 2023.

The purchase is the result of offers received in response to a solicitation issued April 10, according to a news release.

The materials were purchased on an fob destination basis, and deliveries are to be made from Aug. 1 through Dec. 15.

The purchase included:

  • Round white fresh potatoes: 9,600 cartons, $206,688.
  • Russet potatoes: 21,600 cartons, $410,480.
  • Sweet potatoes: 4,000 cartons, $76,100.
  • Total potatoes and sweet potatoes: 35,200 cartons, $693,268.
