The Packer seeking nominations for 2023 Apple Person of the Year

The Packer is calling for nominations for the 2023 Apple Person of the Year.

The award will be presented at the U.S. Apple Association’s 2023 Apple Crop Outlook and Marketing Conference, set for Aug. 17-18 in Chicago.

The award, first presented by The Packer in 1964, recognizes an individual who has shown leadership and commitment to the advancement of the apple industry. Recent recipients include:

  • 2022: Phil Glaize Jr., owner of Glaize Apples, Winchester, Va.
  • 2021: Washington apple grower Sean Gilbert.
  • 2020: Kaari Stannard, owner and president of New York Apple Sales, Glenmont, N.Y.
