Cybersecurity tips offered to protect your tech during summer travel

Summer is upon us, which means vacation travel, and for many, more time spent on public networks.

ZAG Technical Services, a strategic IT consulting firm and security provider in agribusiness, is sharing resources for improving tech security for produce industry professionals while on the go.

According to the novel "The Vacationers," nearly 219 million American adults plan to travel for work or pleasure this summer. While vacation plans may vary greatly, one common reality for travelers is their plan to bring along a smartphone or tablet. More time spent on public networks when traveling brings with it a greater risk of cybersecurity and malware attacks, according to a news release.

“If you are traveling for work or pleasure, it is imperative to understand the cyber risks in new environments,” Patrick Day, ZAG’s director of client strategy, said in the release.

To help protect your tech while on the go, whether for vacation or business travel, ZAG has published an easy-to-share infographic with tips for securing your information and devices. According to the release, this includes:

• How to recognize online dangers.

• Using unsecured networks.

• Understanding the risk of leaving your devices unattended, including in private hotel rooms.
