Peirone Produce, a distributor of fresh fruits and vegetables to independent grocers in the Inland Northwest, has named Brent Shammo as the company’s next president, according to a news release.

Shammo brings with him almost 20 years of produce industry experience to the leadership role. After earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, Shammo began his career with Kroger and became a commodity buyer. Since February last year, Shammo has been serving as the director of merchandising for Peirone Produce. His pursuit of knowledge about Peirone Produce’s operations, combined with his deep understanding of industry knowledge, led to Shammo being named president, the release said.

Peirone Produce said it extends its appreciation to outgoing president Michael Kamphaus for his exceptional leadership and significant contributions to the company’s growth and success over the past nine years, the release said. To ensure a smooth transition, Kamphaus last day with the company will be Dec. 1, 2023, according to the release.
