WP Produce, a Miami-based grower-shipper of Desbry brand tropical fruits and roots, says it is offering a steady supply of the traditional tropical avocados despite a lower-volume season.

The Desbry brand tropical avocado is a larger-sized avocado that is typically slower to oxidize and is non-GMO, with no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, with organic cultivation contributing to soil health, according to a news release.

“While some of our customers are very familiar with tropical avocados, others see them as an exotic item, which is also popular, but there can be the misconception that they are genetically modified because of the much larger size; when in fact the tropical avocado is the original avocado dating back many centuries ago,” WP Produce Vice President of Sales Christopher Gonzalez said in the release.

Desbry tropical avocados are naturally grown, ripened and noncoated, he added.

WP Produce said it offers a dependable Desbry tropical avocado supply by sourcing from growing partners that have been farming the same produce for generations, ensuring ideal growing conditions and peak ripeness.

Despite a lower-volume Florida season, due largely to agricultural compromises from laurel wilt disease and general overdevelopment in the state, Desbry sourced growers have consistent, high quality with traceability from the grove of origin, the release said.

WP Produce said it provides customers with a year-round supply of its Desbry tropical avocados as the leading importer from the Dominican Republic, complementing Florida’s off-season.

“Our Desbry tropical avocados are naturally slower to oxidize and also offer a longer cut life supporting consumer demand for pre-cut and ready-to-go healthy fruit options,” WP Produce Vice President Desiree Pardo Morales said in the release. “The end-user customer buying at retail or online appreciates the convenience of the larger size, unique texture, firmness, taste and versatile recipe applications of tropical avocados."
