Santa Maria, Calif.-based vegetable grower-shipper Babé Farms plans to launch a line of red and green butter lettuce varieties at the International Fresh Produce Association's Global Produce & Floral Show in Anaheim, Calif., on Oct. 20-21.

Baby Butter Cakes — named for the lettuce’s buttery flavor and shape evoking a layer cake — are petite heads of butter lettuce, available in both green and red varieties, according to a news release. These premium lettuce heads feature dense and plentiful leaves compared to a typical butterhead lettuce, the release said.

"Babé Farms is thrilled to introduce this unique, new item our team has worked so hard on," Ande Manos, director of sales and marketing for Babé Farms said in the release. "As we finalize our production and supply plans, our supplies are currently limited. We highly value the feedback from our customers, as it will be instrumental in ensuring a seamless introduction and efficient distribution.”
