USA Pears looks to help retailers ‘eclipse’ previous sales
Pear Bureau Northwest has sent NASA-approved eclipse-viewing glasses to retailers as part of a mailer reminding them to prepare for the new pear season.
Harvest is starting soon for many grower-shippers in Washington and Oregon. The solar eclipse is Aug. 21.
“With the first days of fresh pear harvest coinciding with this event, we want to remind produce buyers that the USA Pears team is a go-to resource for information and ideas to help retailers ‘eclipse’ their past pear category performance and their competition,” Kevin Moffitt, president and CEO for the Milwaukie, Ore.-based bureau, said in a news release. “We have a beautiful crop of fresh pears coming off the trees, and we are using this once-in-a-lifetime event to build excitement for the new season ahead with a fun mailer that will capture the attention of retailers.”
