The Produce Mom highlights school lunch nutrition

The Produce Mom has released “Smarter Lunchrooms,” an e-book filled with strategies to encourage students to choose and eat healthier foods in school cafeterias.

The book, released in partnership with Sage Fruit Co., Yakima, Wash., highlights the Smarter Lunchrooms movement, which focuses on no-cost/low-cost initiatives for schools to promote healthy eating. The movement was developed in 2010 by the Cornell Center for Behavioral Economics in Child Nutrition Programs, according to a news release.

The e-book includes:

•Best practices and simple strategies,

•Success stories, results, statistics, and testimonials,

•Recipes

•Shocking statistics and facts that relate to child nutrition

The “Smarter Lunchrooms” e-book is free, available at http://www.theproducemom.com/sage-fruit-smarter-lunchrooms/.

“Sage Fruit is committed to helping children make better lifestyle decisions. The ‘Smarter Lunchrooms e-book is another avenue for us to pursue our goal of making healthy food options more accessible to children,” Kaci Komstadius, social media and marketing manager for Sage Fruit, said in the release.
