United Fresh to honor DiSogra at Women in Produce reception

Lorelei DiSogra, vice president of nutrition and health at United Fresh Produce Association, will be the honoree and featured speaker at the association’s annual reception honoring women in produce.

The reception is June 14, during United Fresh’s annual convention and expo in Chicago.

DiSogra, who joined United Fresh in August 2005, plans to retire at the end of May.

Prior to joining United Fresh, she was the director of the National 5-A-Day Program at the National Cancer Institute from 2001-05, vice president of nutrition at Dole Food Co. from 1991-2001 and the director of intervention for the California 5-A-Day Campaign from 1985-1991.

The annual reception recognizes the contributions of women working in the produce industry and selects one individual to share her personal experience, according to a news release.

“DiSogra has been a relentless advocate for the produce industry in service to a greater public health mission,” Tom Stenzel, president and chief executive officer of United Fresh, said in the release.

For more information about the reception, contact United Fresh Senior Director of Member Programs and Education Amanda Griffin at agriffin@unitedfresh.org or at 202-303-3412.
