Giumarra’s Mexican grapes dominated by proprietary varieties
The Giumarra Cos., Los Angeles, has received the first shipments of Nature’s Partner-brand grapes from Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.
“We are prepared to support our retail customers with a robust promotional push for the spring grape season,” Tom Wilson, grape sales manager for the Giumarra Cos., said in a news release. “Volumes will be excellent for Memorial Day ad pricing. We recommend displaying as many varieties as possible for maximum sales impact.”
The shipments include Early Sweet green seedless and summer royal black seedless, as well as perlette green seedless and flame red seedless.
Giumarra’s newest proprietary variety Passion Fire red seedless, Arra 30 green seedless, and sugraone green seedless will arrive in late May and finish mid- to late June.
“The consumer excitement surrounding the grape category offers extensive opportunities for introducing new varieties to market,” Kellee Harris, western region business director for the Giumarra Cos., said in the release. “These new offerings give consumers more choices for healthy snacking, salads, and desserts as we move into the warmer weather months.”
Giumarra has been growing Early Sweet since 2014, and is expecting the largest volume ever this season.
“Early Sweet meets both consumer and retailer demands for a high quality green seedless grape early in the season. This year, sizing will be exceptional,” Wilson said in the release.
