Duncan Family Farms wins safety award

Duncan Family Farms, an organic grower in Goodyear, Ariz., won the 2017 All Ways Safe Agri-cultural Safety Award for a Large Company.

The company has three farming operations in California and one in Arizona.

“We don’t just throw ‘safety’ out there as a word or a slogan,” Linda Kennedy, employee safety and risk management supervisor at Duncan Family Farms, said in a news release. “We truly take it to heart as one of our core values for every single individual at every single farm.”

One of the strategies the company uses is to invite the California and Arizona Divisions of Occupational Safety and Health Administration to the farms each year as part of a consulting team to help identify potential risks and hazards, according to the release.

“The team as a whole is honored to win this award and see all their efforts paying off,” Kennedy said. “At the end of the day, we really care about the well-being of people — our employees
