Kid chefs compete in healthy cooking challenge
Produce For Kids and Shuman Produce have partnered with Macaroni Kid for the Macaroni Kid Cooking Challenge on May 7 in Southampton, N.Y.
A two-month digital campaign kicked off on March 1 and will commence when six junior chef finalists face off, creating on-the-spot healthy recipes using Macaroni Kid Cooking Challenge sponsors, according to a news release.
“With Vidalia season kicking off on April 12, this event couldn’t have come at a more perfect time,” John Shuman, president of Vidalia onion company Shuman Produce, and founder of Produce for Kids, said in the release. “We believe that getting kids in the kitchen at a young age and teaching them the importance of fruits and veggies is integral in creating a healthier generation.”
At the event, dishes will be tasted and voted on by a team of celebrity judges, and two contestants will earn the title of MKCC Champion. Spectators are welcome to watch the show and the first 120 families to arrive receive a complimentary gift bag, according to the release.
