F&S Produce buys fresh-cut plant

Fresh-cut fruit and vegetable company F&S Produce, Rosenhayn, N.J., is expanding its fresh and processed capabilities with the purchase of a General Mills Progresso Soup plant in Vineland, N.J.

F&S supplies retail, foodservice and industrial processing companies with fresh-cut, frozen and pureed/cooked fruits and vegetables. The bulk of its business is retail products, including fruit and vegetable trays and bowls, ready-to-prepare meal sides and kits, and deli salads, according to a news release.

The new facility in Vineland will expand fresh and processed lines, president and CEO Sam Pipitone Jr. said.

“Our new state-of-the art production facility will allow continued growth within the fresh-cut produce space, while enabling our company to expand its meal solution offerings that our customers increasingly seek,” Pipitone said in the release. “As consumers focus on healthier, natural foods that are found around the perimeter of the supermarket, F&S Produce is here to provide them with the freshness food safety and convenience that they demand.”

The company has two plants in Rosenhayn.
