HM.CLAUSE names CEO
Davis, Calif.-based global vegetable seed company HM.CLAUSE has hired Rémi Bastien as CEO.
Bastien took over the role effective Sept. 1, after former CEO, Matthew Johnston, left the company in April to work for Syngenta, according to a news release and Johnston’s LinkedIn profile.
Bastien has nearly 30 years of industry experience. He most recently served as CEO for Limagrain Europe, a business division of HM.CLAUSE’s parent company, the release said. He was also president of the Union Française des Semenciers corn section during that time.
Prior to those two positions, Bastien worked for Mérieux Nutrisciences, Monsanto and Pioneer Seeds in France.
He will be based in Portes-les-Valence, France, the release said, but will divide his time between there and the U.S. headquarters.
As CEO, Bastien will also serve as chair for the Global Strategy Team for the company.
Bastien will work alongside André Cariou, the company’s deputy CEO.
“I see great value in this cooperative approach to governance because it promotes a culture of partnership, which in turn emphasizes collaboration and teamwork throughout the company,” Bastien said in the release.
