Americold’s new Utah facility services West Coast

Cold storage and logistics company Americold has opened a 9.5-million-cubic-feet warehouse in Clearfield, Utah.

The new building brings Americold’s Clearfield campus capacity to almost 21 million cubic feet, according to a news release. The new facility and the company’s Salt Lake City warehouse, extends Americold’s capacity to more than 50% of total cold warehouse storage in northern Utah, according to the release.

“This is the first grand opening of the three U.S. facilities for which we’ve broken ground this year,” president and CEO Fred Boehler said in the release.

The company is building a 15.5-million-cubic-foot facility with 57,000 pallet positions in Rochelle, Ill., and another one in Middleborough, Mass., which will house processing equipment for Ocean Spray’s cranberry products.

Americold supplies its West Coast customers from the Clearfield campus, one of five such National Consolidation Centers for the company’s coast-to-coast distribution network, according to the release.
