Fresh Direct Produce Ltd. has been recognized among Canada’s Best Managed Companies for seven consecutive years, which puts it in the program’s Platinum Club for the first time.

The Best Managed program, now in its 25th year, chooses from among hundreds of competing Canadian-owned and managed businesses with revenues of more than $15 million based on their strategy, capability and commitment to sustainable growth. The program is sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, Canadian Business Magazine, Queen’s Smith School of Business, MacKay CEO Forums and the TMX Group.

“Our Team is honored to receive the Best Managed Platinum Award for maintaining our commitment to pursuing excellence,” company president and co-founder Davis Yung said in a news release. “It has been another stellar year of continuous learning and growth. Our business continues to expand across our conventional, organics and import produce divisions.”

Fresh Direct, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, has added new packing lines and ripening rooms in its new 53,000-square-foot Calgary facility as well as in its South Vancouver facility, according the release.

Fresh Direct sources and imports more than 1,000 conventional and organic produce items from 32 countries, distributing from its three facilities in Vancouver and Calgary, according to the release.
