Honeybear hits a milestone with Chilean Honeycrisps
As Honeybear Brands imports its first organic Honeycrisps from Chile, the company has achieved a milestone with year-round supplies of the popular variety.
The company reports perfect growing conditions this season for organic and the conventional crop, which will begin arriving in the U.S. the first week of May, according to a news release.
The company began its mission for year-round Honeycrisp supplies, and decided on Chile, where production has grown to provide ample supplies to earn the year-round distinction.
“With the significant increase in conventional production and our new organic production, we’re bringing more options to our retailers to help them cater every customer preference,” Don Roper, vice president of sales and marketing for Honeybear Brands, said in the release.
The company works with partner growers in Chile, and the company plans organic Honeycrisps to be as much as 30% of all production there, according to the release.
Honeybear Brands and parent company Wescott Agri Products has exclusive production and marketing rights to Chilean Honeycrisps.
