Football coach Herm Edwards highlights The Packer’s West Coast Produce Expo’s education program as keynote speaker for the May 11-12 event.

Edwards was recently hired as head coach of Arizona State University’s football team, but has coached and played in the NFL and made a name as an ESPN analyst.

The Packer’s annual West Coast Expo will be at the JW Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Springs, Calif.

“As we established last year with Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as our keynote speaker, the West Coast Expo will be a great mix of business and pleasure this year,” said The Packer’s Publisher Shannon Shuman. “We have an outstanding event planned.”

The West Coast Expo starts May 11 with a golf tournament, field tours and networking reception. The education program will run the morning of May 12 before the five-hour expo with about 200 exhibitors and hundreds of buyers from Western organizations and beyond.

In addition to Edwards, author and speaker David Mitchell will give a presentation on “enter-train-ment,” and Produce Retailer magazine Editor Pamela Riemenschneider will host a retailer panel during this year’s version of Fresh Trends Quiz Show.

“We’ll use Fresh Trends consumer stats to quiz a few retailers and have them give their produce marketing and merchandising ideas for a few hot fruits and vegetables,” she said.
