Greg Yielding succeeds Mininger at National Onion Association

Wayne Mininger, who has led the National Onion Association for 33 years, is retiring, and Greg Yielding has been selected as the association’s new executive vice president.

Yielding officially joins the association on Jan 2.

His background is in the rice industry, most recently serving in several roles: director of emerging markets and special products for the U.S. Rice Producers Association, executive director of the Missouri Rice Research and Merchandising Council and executive director for the Arkansas Rice Growers Association, according to a news release.

He has advocated for the rice industry for 14 years.

 “We are very excited to have Greg on board and look forward to him representing our industry through whatever challenges come our way, and as all of us know will come,” Doug Stanley, National Onion Association president, said in the release. “Greg’s background with association work and his extensive legislative background should serve our association well.”

Before working in the rice industry, Yielding was the executive director of the Arkansas Cable Telecommunications Association for 10 years.

He also was constable of North Little Rock, Ark., from 1994-2004, and served on the city council there for four years.

“I like representing the farmers and growers,” he said. “I believe that everyone needs to be represented, and representing farmers is important for the country.”
