The number of people with salmonella linked to fresh-cut melons shipped by Caito Foods has increased, and the Food and Drug Administration has released a list of hundreds of retail outlets that received the products.
Last week watermelon and orange content dominated Produce Market Guide searches. Strawberries, lettuce and celery rounded out the top five searches on the platform that connects produce buyers and sellers.
Many of the produce items shipped from West Mexico during the spring are similar to those that arrive in winter. However, fruit items, like melons and mangoes, tend to have a greater presence as the weather warms up.
