New Jersey ag official touts blueberry safety
Douglas H. Fisher, New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture, released a statement in response to an Aug. 8 article from The Philadelphia Inquirer about labor housing conditions at blueberry farms.
“The article included an implication that blueberries produced on these farms could be at risk of contamination,” Fisher said in a news release. “There is no evidence to support this claim.”
Fisher said consumers should continue to buy Jersey Fresh blueberries and all the state’s agricultural products “with great confidence.”
