Procacci Holdings LLC’s Garden State Farms at the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market has expanded with the purchase of a neighbor at the facility, A. Vassallo Inc.

The purchase by Garden State Farms, which is owned and operated by Procacci Holdings, is a natural expansion of Garden State’s operation, CEO J.M. Procacci  said in a news release.

“As we continue to expand, our commitment to the market is integral to our growth,” he said in the release.
The expansion brings Procacci/Garden State’s properties at the wholesale market to four units.

Procacci Bros. President Mike Maxwell said fresh produce from the region is increasing, with more shipments from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and New York.

“PWPM is the ideal location to distribute produce, and acquiring A. Vassallo makes Garden State more efficient for their customers,” Maxwell said in the release.

A. Vassallo Inc. was owned by the DiPascale family, described as a friendly competitor to Procacci in the release.

In the release, Maxwell said David DiPascale, co-vice president of terminal operations for Garden State Farms, has “built a great team over there, and we are excited about the future of our market.
