Mexico’s supply of limes will start increasing around mid-May as the harvest transitions from the winter crop to the spring crop, said Michael Castagnetto, vice president of sourcing for Robinson Fresh, Eden Prairie, Minn.

Castagnetto said there will be an abundance of small fruit while large sizes will be in short supply.

Meanwhile, Robinson Fresh have good supplies of pineapples in May and June.

Mango harvest is starting in Mexico in Nayarit and south Sinaloa, which he said will significantly increase supply.

Despite the delays in harvest observed out of Chiapas and Oaxaca, Mexico’s mango crop is on track to yield similar volumes to last year.

Meanwhile, he said papayas have been in short supply in the past months, but he expects availability to increase after the second week of May. Promotional volumes are expected then, he said.
