Chestnut Hill Farms establishes long-term changes during pandemic

Chestnut Hill Farms, Coral Gables, Fla., has taken step during the COVID-19 pandemic to maintain employee safety while retaining efficiency.

As the pandemic spread in the spring, the company took measures at its Costa Rican production areas, including new infrastructure: more room between canteens, increased number of cleaning stations and barriers between workers in the facilities and common areas.

“We have preventative and reactive protocols,” Chestnut Hill Farms’ Alexander Bolanos said in a news release. “These include protective equipment, sanitizing procedures, temperature records on every worker going to work, and medical staff checking continuously for different possible symptoms.”

The company has continued its protocols through the pandemic, and assures workers they will receive a paycheck if they become ill and have to quarantine.

“No company can be successful in a failed community,” Bolanos said in the release.
