USDA sets FSMA roundtable on imports

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is hosting an importers roundtable on food safety for companies that do business with Colombia, Peru, and countries in Central America and the Caribbean.

The meeting, through the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service, is for importers, brokers and distributors of product from those countries.

The meeting will focus on Food Safety Modernization Act regulations, according to a news release, and presenters include FSMA experts, representatives from the Food and Drug Administration, Customs and Border Patrol and the USDA.

The program includes an overview of FSMA rules, updates from the FDA on the Foreign Supplier Verification Program and enforcement discretion policy, according to the release.
