The International Pineapple Organization's first-quarter Global Pineapple Conference has a busy schedule, with a day-long series of conference sessions and a tour of Port Everglades.

Registrations are being accepted online for the March 22-24 conference at the port, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The conference will tackle five main areas, according to the group’s website:

  • Supply side: crop estimates and projections, with academic and farm sectors participating;
  • Demand side: global pineapple market performance, with importers, retailers, and fresh and processed pineapple marketers participating;
  • Transportation and logistics: representatives from Port Everglades, shipping lines, customs brokers and freight forwarders talk about the supply chain;
  • Technology and food safety: third-party service providers on food safety, and certification organizations give an update on standards; and
  • Sustainability and social responsibility: leaders on sustainable projects present information on being responsible stewards while maintaining competitiveness and efficiency.

For more information, see the organization’s website, www.ipineappleorg.com.

The International Pineapple Organization’s second-quarter conference is May 13-15 at the Port of Gulfport, Miss.
