Okanagan Specialty Fruits has launched a foodservice web portal to give chefs information on its bioengineered non-browning Arctic apples.

The portal includes information on unique benefits of the Arctic apple fresh slices to chefs and foodservice operators, from saving time to reducing waste, according to a news release. The website’s tools include a custom field-generated calculator, allowing users to determine savings by using fresh-cut Arctic apples.

“We see remarkable demand from the foodservice industry,” Rebecca Catlett, director of marketing and communications at Okanagan Specialty Fruits. “The fresh-picked flavor of Arctic apple slices is really resonating with chefs and foodservice operators. The portal was designed to provide information and pique the interest of the industry.”

The Arctic apple slices can be prepped and plated directly from the package, according to the release.

“Arctic apples, developed with the fresh-cut market in mind, are a natural fit for foodservice use,” Jennifer Armen, vice president at Okanagan Specialty Fruits, said in the release. “The features of Arctic apples benefit the entire supply chain.”

The company has developed the Arctic Granny and Arctic Golden apples.
