Cultivating Change grant program to open Sept. 1

Registration for the Cultivating Change local farm grant program will open Sept. 1.

The program is administered by Greener Fields Together, a sustainability program created and administered by Pro*Act and its national network of independently owned local operators, according to the group's website.

Grant amounts from $3,000 to $10,000 will be funded on an annual basis to qualifying growers via an online voting platform and industry review panel, according to a news release.

Grant categories, according to the website, are:
  • Certifications: organic, non-GMO, biodynamic, Fair Trade, food safety;
  • Infrastructure: reusable plastic containers, delivery vans, reefer trucks, equipment;
  • Capacity building: food safety/GAP improvements, continuing education; and

  • Marketing/communications: upgrade labels/cartons, marketing materials, website/social media support.
