Georgia ag tech conference features startup competition

Ag tech companies can court possible investors at the AgTech Conference of the South.

The conference, July 23-25 in Alpharetta, Ga., features a July 24 pitch-off competition that gives four selected startups the chance to put their ideas in front of tech company executives and representatives of the University of Georgia’s Innovation Gateway.

Proposals that demonstrate a knowledge of product and markets, viability of a revenue model and scalability will be considered to advance to the July 24 event, according to a news release. Companies must have at least two employees, and products/services must add value to the agriculture industry and market, according to the release.

There is no set investment prize, but startups can earn partnerships

Judges on the panel include representatives from:

  • Climate Corp.;
  • Cox Enterprises Clean Tech division;
  • Florikan;
  • TechStars;
  • Georgia Tech’s Advanced Technology Development Center; and
  • UGA’s Innovation Gateway

Applications for the AgTech Conference of the South Pitch Off are due May 4.

“There’s a rich pool of talent coming from the startup community, as we’re excited to showcase those leading the booming agtech space,” Julie Bryant Fisher, chief experience officer at the pitch-off’s sponsor, the Technology Association of Georgia, and chairwoman of the event’s planning committee. “This competition is designed to connect these innovators with established companies seeking potential ag tech sponsors.”
