Phytelligence deal introduces fruit rootstock to Argentina
Agricultural biotechnology company Phytelligence announced an agreement that will make disease-free fruit rootstocks and trees available to growers in Argentina.
Agricultural engineer Jorge Aragon will work with the growers in the new venture, which will use Janus Management and Consulting to facilitate the process. Phytelligence uses a process called MultiPHY to produce disease- and virus-free plant materials in greater volumes and faster, according to a news release.
“We’re looking forward to facilitating the delivery of superior quality trees to the growers of Argentina through Ing. Agr. Jorge Aragon,” Phytelligence CEO Ken Hunt said in the release. “Our mission is to service growers across the globe, and our connection with Aragon and Janus Management and Consulting brings us one step closer to accomplishing this goal.”
The Argentina agreement focuses on apple, pear and cherry trees.
Last year, Phytelligence announced a licensing agreement with the Florida Foundation Seed Producers, giving customers access to rootstocks that are citrus greening disease tolerant. The rootstocks were released as part of the University of Florida’s Citrus Fast Track Release Option.
