Longtime Four Seasons buyer Bob Becker Sr. remembered
Robert “Bob” Becker Sr., who worked for Four Seasons Produce Inc. for 41 years, has died after a battle with cancer.
Becker, Denver, Penn., died June 1. He was 67.
For most of his time at the Ephrata, Penn.-based company, he was a produce buyer.
As a longtime Four Seasons employee, Becker did “just about every job” over the years at the produce distributor, and became known as the company’s historian, according to Jonathan Steffy, vice president and general manager at Four Seasons Produce.
“He helped share and document the organization’s story, and collected business artifacts over the years,” Steffy wrote in an e-mail. “Recently at a company event, to the delight of all in attendance, he even read an old poem-song he had originally written to roast (Four Seasons Family of Cos. CEO David) Hollinger on his birthday decades earlier.”
Becker was active in his church and volunteered as a driving instructor for Burmese Karen refugees. He was a member of Gideons International, and sponsored more than 20 children through Compassion International, according to his obituary.
“Admired for his faithful service, loyalty, willingness to help in any way needed, along with his enthusiasm for people, dry humor and unexpected wit, Bob Becker will be greatly missed and remembered fondly,” Steffy wrote.
