Read to Me Project announces literacy festival

The Read to Me Project's second Salinas Valley Grows Readers literacy festival is set for April 30 in Salinas, Calif.

The Salinas Valley Grows Reader literacy festival was designed as a family experience centered on building literacy and creating a love for reading and learning, according to a news release.

The Read to Me Project is a prevention-based program designed to break the cycle of low literacy rates. The project's mission is to help children from 6 months to 5 years old to be ready for kindergarten, and prepare for a lifetime of literacy, according to the release.

The Salinas Valley Grows Readers festival is funded in part by First 5 Monterey County and Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Real Time Realty. The Read to Me Project is funded in part by California Giant Berries and Taylor Farms. More information is at http://www.readtomeproject.org/.
