Argentina’s president visits blueberry exporter
Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri recently visited a blueberry grower who exports to the U.S., China, and other countries.
The grower, El Molino, in the Tucuman province in northwest Argentina, sells fresh and frozen blueberries.
During the visit, Macri was accompanied by Juan Manzur, governor of Tucuman, and Francisco Estrada, president of the Association of Blueberry Producers of Tucuman, a member of the Argentinean Blueberry Committee.
Issues discussed included blueberry exports to China, which currently face a 30% tariff, which President Macri said he plans to address, according to a news release. Estrada said the blueberry farm has four fields ready to export to China.
The Argentinean Blueberry Committee represents more than 80% of the blueberries exported from the country
