National Mango Board accepting nominations for 3-year terms
The National Mango Board, Orlando, Fla., is seeking nominations for board members whose terms begin in 2021.
The three-year terms for six new members begin in January 2021, according to a news release. Nominations are due Feb. 21.
The positions are for three fresh mango importers in District II (Minn., Wis., Mich., Iowa, Mo., Ill., Ind., Ohio, Tenn., Ky., Ark., La., Miss., and half of Texas), two foreign growers, and one domestic grower.
The board currently has a position open for a domestic grower, who will start serving immediately upon selection, according to the release, serving through the end of 2021.
The 21-member National Mango Board includes fresh and frozen fruit importers, a first handler, a frozen processor, and U.S. and foreign growers. The U.S. Department of Agriculture makes final approval of board members.
Mango industry members in each district vote on nominees, with two nominees for each position submitted to the secretary of agriculture for the final decision, according to the release. Details for interested industry members are on the National Mango Board website.
