Seald Sweet offers Argentine lemons
After a 17-year hiatus, Seald Sweet International, Vero Beach, Fla., is importing lemons from Argentina.
The lemons, arriving at the Port of Philadelphia, will be distributed through the Swedesboro, N.J., Greenyard Logistics USA facility, Seald Sweet’s sister company.
“For 17 years, we have never given up hope and have continued contact and meetings with the growers,” Mayda Sotomayor, Seald Sweet CEO said in a news release. “We held the belief that science would triumph, and we would once again gain admissibility to the U.S. market.”
The company expects consistent shipments through mid-July.
“The producers in Argentina have formed an association called ‘All Lemons’ to ensure consisteny production of a quality lemon globally,” Sotomayor said in the release. “We are working with them to increase supply and grow our consistent program as we see demand for fresh lemons during this window increasing.”
